Providing comfort, hope, and confidence to children in urgent need
Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.
Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. We're grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well. Some of the local charities we're involved in are the Fort Nightly Club, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Hyer Ground Animal Rescue, Columbia-Greene Humane Society, and Community Action. We're also quite involved with many community organizations.
Subaru and Lacy Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

This is the second year we have had Ertle Subaru support our Climb To End Cancer Pocono event. We couldn't do it without team Ertle there. We love that they brought the newest Outback Wilderness for us to check out. The hiking community loved it! Thank you so much Ertle Subaru for your donation as well.

These meaningful gifts help provide warmth and encouragement to patients during treatment, and serve as a reminder that they are supported by a caring community. LLS is proud to partner with Lacy Subaru and grateful for their continued commitment to making a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Catskill, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Lacy Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Lacy Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/15/2025, Lacy Subaru donated 120 coats to Community Action of Greene County. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Christmas time is supposed to be a cheerful and exiting time of year. However some families think it is the most stressful and worrying time of year. These families stay up at night thinking about how to keep food on their tables and now have the pressure to provide Christmas presents. In some communities there are organizations that give assistance to families by providing the family with presents. This is most popularly known as “adopting a family.” Kayla Taranto from RC Lacy approached a local organization asking how she can help. She explained that the dealership employs many people and her idea was to get them involved to take on more families. She signed up to take 4 families. That was a total of 11 children, 4 pets and 5 adults. Kayla and her associate Juan Molina took all of the Christmas lists that the children provided. They held meetings with all the departments of the dealership to collect money. They even asked personal family & friends to participate. The employees at RC Lacy were enthusiastic to help and went above and beyond any expectations. They were able to get every gift the children put on their list, food for the pets & gift cards for groceries for each family. They even provided gift cards for the adults. One family in particular requested the gifts to be delivered. Without hesitation Kayla offered to bring the gifts to the family. She contacted the family and on Christmas Eve delivered the gifts. The family was so excited to have a Christmas that year, the kids were outside to greet Kayla with tears of happiness. RC Lacy did more than just provide tangible items. They provided multiple families with happiness, joy and hope. It wasn’t about buying a car; it was about giving back & continuing to build a relationship with the community. Thank you RC Lacy for everything you have done for this community and everything you continue to do.

Hi friends at Subaru, Thank you for inviting CGHS to your 110th Anniversary Celebration! Your staff were so welcoming of our adoption dogs and the CGHS staff. We're pleased to say that 2 out of the 3 dogs have been adopted, and the 3rd dog will be going into his forever home later on this week. The event created an overwhelming amount of interest in those 3 pups, and we couldn't be more grateful for it. We thank you for your continued support of our organization.

Lacy Subaru recently held there 110th Anniversary Celebration and instead of making it all about the dealership, they incorporated multiple local businesses. They also raised money and donated it to a local Women who is battling a form of cancer. Lacy Subaru is always involved and you can always count on them!

The Greene County Women’s League is a Not-For-Profit Organization made up of volunteers from Greene County that are working diligently to raise the needed funds for those in need. We assist women, men and children that reach out to us, that need financial support during their tough time. The money raised, through our fundraising efforts, goes directly to patient aid. This includes, but not limited to, payments to doctors, pharmacies, hospital bills, wigs, prosthetics, etc. Currently we have the honor to assist over 70 patients that are in need. No one should go through cancer alone. With the help of generous businesses like RC Lacy Subaru, we are able to help those in their time of need.

Every three minutes, a person in the U.S is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma - blood cancers that often requires patients to endure difficult treatments that leave them feeling weak, cold, and isolated. Since 2016, Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) to provide warmth, love, and relief by delivering over 230,000 blankets along with patient care kits and encouraging messages of hope. Lacy Subaru delivered 80 blankets and 10 patient care kits to NYOH Hudson Cancer Center. We are proud to continue this partnership and look forward to many years to come. Thank you all for your continued support to our patients!

Community Action of Greene County Inc, a local non-profit serving predominately low-income families, was very fortunate to team up with RC Lacy and the Subaru Promise along with Project Warm. Through this partnership Community Action received brand new sneakers and socks that was distributed to local families who were in need. Community Action working directly with these families identified that these families often struggle with having to make a hard decision of either paying for their groceries or paying their electric bill. Now imagine these families having a child that has outgrown their sneakers. Since sneakers can be pricey buying a new pair of sneakers might not be an option. This distribution event permitted local families to get new sneakers and socks for their children. Children were encouraged to pick out their own pair, (of course with the parent’s permission). One little boy picked out a bright pair of pink sneakers because they made him happy, another little boy shared that his new sneakers made him run faster. Through this formed partnership both boys and their mom left the agency with a huge smile on their face, a new pair of sneakers on their feet and the confidence to take on the next day. Community Action of Greene County, Inc wishes to thank RC Lacy and Operation Warm, for including us on this endeavor, it truly made a difference in the lives of our clients. Sincerely, Barbara Palmateer Director of Family and Community Services 7856 Route 9W Catskill, NY 12414

We are Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue located in beautiful upstate New York. Our amazing Subaru dealer is RC Lacy. Their staff, Nicole Lacy, Dan Lacy, and Jared Gordiano not only are adopters, but support our rescue in every way. On October 27, 2023 we held a virtual adoption event for the sole purpose of finding a home for a sweet cat named Blossom. Blossom had been surrendered as a stray to a high kill shelter overflowing with adoptable cats and kittens. She is 10 years old and totally blind from cataracts. It was obvious from the shelter assessment that she wasn’t a stray. She responded to voices, rubbing and purring. There was no background information given, but it was obvious that she had been loved. Perhaps her owner died? Maybe her owner could no longer care for her? Knowing that her days at the shelter were few, we posted a plea for an adopter. We just couldn’t let this sweet senior girl be put to sleep. Within hours, we were contacted by the perfect adopter. After 10 days at the shelter, Blossom arrived at Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue and was picked up by her new parents. Her demeaner is amazing! Because her cataracts developed slowly, she has adjusted to her blindness very well. She moves cautiously, exploring with her nose. She slept on a human bed the first night. Blossom is definitely an “underdog” cat. Shelters and rescues all over the country are currently seeing an unprecedented decline in adoptions of all animals. This results in some shelters euthanizing the less adoptable ones to make room for intakes. Other shelters and rescues like ours that are over capacity are unable to take pets in. We have facilities for 9 dogs but currently are housing 15. We are eternally grateful for all that Subaru does to support pet adoption, both locally and nationally. It’s true: SUBARU LOVES PETS!

In a heartwarming partnership, Lacy Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) have combined forces to make a tangible difference in the lives of those undergoing cancer treatment. Lacy Subaru has proven to be a beacon of generosity and care, demonstrating a genuine commitment to our shared mission of creating a world free from blood cancer. Together, with the support of NYOH Hudson, Lacy Subaru has generously contributed 80 comforting blankets to the patients who are undergoing treatments, often spending long hours in the infusion center. These blankets serve as a symbol of warmth and solidarity, enveloping patients with a sense of comfort during their journey towards recovery. Recognizing the significance of easing the journey for patients, Lacy Subaru has generously offered 10 patient care kits. These kits encompass essential items that enhance the comfort and well-being of patients during their hospital stays. These thoughtfully curated care kits provide not only practical support but also convey a message of care and understanding. Moreover, the outpouring of love and encouragement from Subaru customers has been truly heartening. Their heartfelt messages of hope and inspiration, collected by Lacy Subaru, have been a source of comfort and strength for the patients at NYOH Hudson. These messages remind patients that they are supported by a caring community, and that they are not alone in their battle. LLS extends its deepest gratitude to the entire Lacy Subaru family for embodying the spirit of compassion and for standing by us in our commitment to eradicate blood cancer. Your dedication serves as a powerful example of what can be achieved when a community rallies together to make a difference. The impact of your support reaches far beyond the material contributions; it is a testament to the strength of human connection and the capacity for kindness. On behalf of the patients, their families, and the entire LLS community, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Lacy Subaru. Your partnership demonstrates that together, we can illuminate the path towards healing, hope, and a future free from blood cancer.

Glenville Rotary Foundation and the Doggie Paddle for Veterans program is SO grateful to Lacy Subaru of Catskill, NY for their very generous donation to our Veteran’s service dog project. The financial contribution will significantly increase the success of the Doggie Paddle for Veterans project in getting the word out on the life-saving difference a service dog can make for a Veteran. The Glenville Rotary Foundation and Glenville Rotarian / Army veteran Jimmy Thomas share a dream - to match service dogs with qualified veterans who are in need of a service dog that will assist a veteran, in an affordable way. Service dogs can be very expensive and since many qualified veterans cannot afford a trained service dog, many Veterans may never come to know the comfort, peace and guidance a service dog can bring into their life. With the help of a program like Doggie Paddle for Veterans and corporate sponsor, Lacy Subaru of Catskill, NY more Veterans can be assisted by this program. Additionally, the program has recently located a dog resource in Alabama that is willing to donate to the Doggie Paddle for Veterans program by providing pure bred Labrador Retriever dogs. These dogs are specifically bred to be working dogs and are being donated to the Doggie Paddle Program based on their intense desire to bond with humans. Once the dogs are picked up from Alabama and delivered back to NYS, they will be delivered to foster homes, where they will have some time to acclimate to their new surroundings before being matched with a veteran. The chosen veteran will then be required to attend service dog training with their matched “service dog in training.” Each dog will be specifically trained to assist a veteran in assisting in meeting that individual’s particular medical need. The first trip to acquire the donated dogs has been completed the first week of May 2023! Three wonderful dogs are now in NYS awaiting their forever home with their chosen veteran. Subaru funding will help pay for the training of these service dogs, provide for the physical and medical care of the dogs, pet supplies, food, tick and flea collars, physicals and so much more. The bigger picture is that the Lacy Subaru donation is going towards helping qualified veterans live a richer, fuller life with the help from their service dog. Having a service dog by their side will mean the world to many veterans, whose health histories may not have allowed them to take part in events that we take for granted, such as food shopping and socializing. Glenville Rotary Foundation’s Doggie Paddle for Veterans program hopes to decrease veteran suicide rates. Glenville Rotary Foundation and Doggie Paddle for Veterans program wish to thank Lacy Subaru for their generous donation and working in collaboration bringing joy, calm and health back into the life of a veteran. We thank Subaru, Lacy Subaru of Catskill, NY for helping us give back to our deserving US veterans who have given so much to all of us.

Palenville the Hamlet is the community organization for a tiny 1000-person settlement in the town of Catskill, NY, and every Earth Day we hold a Roadside Cleanup after the snow melts and before the underbrush covers up the trash thrown from cars during the long winter months. A crew of volunteers assembles, divides up the roads, then spreads out on foot to gather up the beer cans, Styrofoam cups and Lord knows what else they come across. Five years of experience have taught us that those bags get heavy fast, so we ask the volunteers to periodically stop, tie them off and leave them at the side of the road. I then drive the roads in my Outback, picking up the easy-to-spot bright yellow bags and ferrying them to a dump truck provided by the Catskill Highway Department. A couple of weeks before the 2023 event, my phone rang and it was the man at Lacy Subaru who had sold me my Outback several years before and he had just seen our promotion for the event on Facebook. "What can we do to help?" he asked. I paused for a moment, because we already had the bags and the vests, then I said "we could really use some gloves." "Done," he said. "How many?" I gave him a number, thanked him and we hung up. A week before the event, he called back. "Your gloves are here." I picked the Amazon box up at Lacy and when I got home, there were not only twice as many as I had asked for, in three sizes, but best of all, they were perfect for the job, with a tough wool-like fabric on the back of the hand that stretched to fit and a thick latex rubber on the palm and fingers that was puncture-proof. When the volunteers showed up on Earth Day, they all brought their own tired work or gardening gloves, but when they saw these new gloves, they were like kids. Everyone wanted a pair and everyone got a pair that fit perfectly. The funniest part was when I told them Lacy had provided them, so many told me "Wow, that's where I got my Subaru!" And I ended up spending the day driving around with a half-empty Amazon box of gloves and a bunch of bright yellow bags filled with trash in the back of my Outback, loving the Earth and acting locally. Thanks, Lacy, for being such a good neighbor!

Through our partnership with RC Lacy Subaru, we hosted an adoption event on October 22. We brought eight dogs to 25 Maple Ave, Catskill, NY and by the end of the event, Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue and RC Lacy Subaru helped three dogs find their perfect, loving homes. Thanks to Nicole Lacy and Jarrod and Dylan from RC Lacy Subaru, we were able to hold a successful adoption event with a Halloween theme. Those who attended enjoyed seeing the pups in costume. One of the pets adopted in October was Precious, a beautiful young cat that was brought to our rescue from New Jersey. Precious had a routine surgery on a back leg which required that her activity be restricted and the leg bandaged while she healed. Unfortunately, her elderly owner was unable to comply with these important aftercare requirements, resulting in an infection which cost Precious her back right leg. After healing from her amputation, a concerned family member contacted us to find Precious the perfect home. She now lives with a very happy, loving woman with a big window to sit in. She truly is precious.

We can't thank RC Lacy Subaru enough! Every year they choose us to be their partner for Subaru loves learning. We have gained so many books and ideas from this program and the kids absolutely love it! They do so much for their community and this is just one reason why they're so great!

The Greene County Woman's League is a Not For Profit Organization whose mission is to provide Greene County Cancer patients with assistance in paying medical expenses resulting from the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. With the Help of Lacy Subaru and the Share the Love Event we were able to continue to assist the cancer patients in Greene count. Every penny we raise goes to cancer patient support all our work is volunteer. Thank you Subaru and Lacy's.

Cooper came to Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue in February 2021. He had been surrendered to a high-kill shelter in South Carolina, a three year old hound mix. It’s very likely that he was tied in someone’s backyard for most of his life. He was shy, quiet, kept his kennel spotless, got along well with other dogs, but just didn’t get noticed. Due to his hound tendencies, a fenced yard was a must or an adopter committed to regular leash walks (did I mention that he didn’t do so well on a leash?). Finally on October 30th, after over 8 months in rescue, a young couple came to meet 3 dogs. When it was Cooper’s turn, it was obvious immediately that he absolutely loved the man. He sat at his feet and gazed up at his face. When the man went to retrieve something from his car, upon his return Cooper could not contain his excitement. We had never seen this side of him. The couple chose Cooper to adopt. They are avid walkers, live near a public trail, and spend a lot of time there with Cooper. The pictures they have sent show a very happy dog and his happy family. Sometimes an underdog just blends in and isn’t noticed. No fancy colors, no tricks, just a hound waiting patiently for someone to see how sweet and gentle he is. Lacy Subaru is always there for us - adoption events, sharing our posts on social media, and several of their staff are adopters! We are very grateful to the Lacy family and Subaru for all they do for pets.

The support Lacy Subaru has provided to Everlasting Hope Animal Shelter goes beyond words. So many animals have been surrendered through the pandemic which is a hardship. But the charity they have provided has helped this shelter save so many animals, we are so pleased that local businesses are able to help others in the community. We are sure it hasn't been easy for anyone this year but the Lacy family stepped up again. They are active in the community helping so many organizations, thankfully they included the shelter, I believe one of Subaru's favorites! Thank you again Lacy Subaru for your support saving animals like our little Baby.

A few years ago, I worked as an Assistant Principal in a middle school. Our school subscribed to the "Subaru Loves Learning" initiative where they brought dozens of science books for our kids to use for their classes. Our local dealership RC Lacy Ford Lincoln and Subaru came to campus and brought a brand new Impreza and newly redesigned Crosstrek. While I was helping unload the boxes from the Crosstrek, I fell in love with the Crosstrek and ended up purchasing one from the dealership a few months later! I had such a great experience with the dealership that I recruited my family and friends to purchase their cars from there as well. To date, we just picked up our new Subaru Ascent to get our family safely around town. We are so thankful for Subaru and RC Lacy!

Covid-19 has affected everyone. During this unknown times we have tried to stay positive and keep the traditions and yearly fundraisers going. With 2019's Subaru Share the Love we were able to finally meet with Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue in September (yes we know a little later than usual) to present them with the check from the money raised! Seeing the smile on their faces once they received the check was well worth the wait! Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue has been able to continue to save and give animals a second chance because of events and fundraisers like Subaru Share the Love. Our story had such an impact, even Subaru of America shared our story for the country to see!
Wendy G.
Thank you to RC Lacy Subaru and Subaru of America! We are honored to be chosen to be the recipient of your Share the Love Event. A portion of the sale of each Subaru sold by RC Lacy in 2018 was donated by Subaru of America to the non-profit of the dealer’s choice. And RC Lacy added $2,500!! Eddie (the black and white terrier) was adopted from EHAR into the Lacy family last year. We are so honored to receive this donation which will have such a tremendous impact on our rescue. (In case you can't see the amount on the check, it is $12,481!!!) This money has gone towards is a new air conditioning and heating unit for our shelter, a new meet and greet fence so these animals have more room to get to know their furever home, as well as a trailer that has helped transport a lot of these animals to and from major adoption events. We are honored to be chosen once again for this year’s Share the Love non-profit group and we can’t thank the Lacy’s enough!

Special thanks to Lacy Subaru of Catskill, who on November 6 generously donated five boxes of award-winning science books to Catskill Middle School. Members of the dealership’s Lacy family personally delivered the books to the front steps of our school, where a representative group of students, science and STEAM faculty, and administrators were waiting to unload them. The group eagerly dug through the boxes to check out the exciting titles inside. This is Lacy Subaru’s third year making such a donation to CMS. According to Lacy, it stems from the dealership's commitment to the Subaru Love Promise, with the aim of making a positive impact in the world and making the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible. Both Subaru of America and the local Subaru dealer contribute funds into this program, which help pay for books and projects. This year's selection exemplifies outstanding and engaging science writing and illustration for young readers - real page turners! The donation was made possible by the Subaru Loves Learning Project in partnership with the Science Books & Films (SB&F) Project of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The donated titles were selected from the winners and finalists of the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books, an award that emphasizes the importance of science books for both information and enjoyment. CMS will distribute the books throughout the science and STEAM classrooms, where they will serve to enrich our curriculum and be available for students to enjoy on their own.

With the help of Lacy Subaru the Everlasting Hope Animal Rescue many furry friends would not have had a chance and/or found their forever homes. Lacy has supported the shelter by assisting adoptions. The entire staff at Lacy Subaru is supportive and they love pets, young or old. In fact, their dealership is pet friendly and most visits you will see furry friends around. Thank you Lacy Subaru for your continued support.

Recently Lacy Subaru of Catskill delivered 150 books to Catskill Middle School. The prize-winning books will engage our young readers. The donation is very much appreciated. Community involvement is key and our children will benefit. Thanks to everyone at Lacy Subaru.

150 award-winning science books are now in the hands of Catskill Middle School students, thanks to a generous gift from Lacy Subaru in Catskill. On September 21, the dealership’s Dan Lacy, Nicole Lacy, and Troy Lacy personally delivered the books to CMS, where a representative group of students, faculty and administrators were waiting to receive them on the front steps of the school. The donation was made possible by the Subaru Loves Learning Project in partnership with the Science Books & Films (SB&F) Project at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). “We are very appreciative that Lacy Subaru chose Catskill Middle School to be the beneficiary of this worthwhile program,” said CMS principal Kerry Overbaugh. “Their outreach is a great example of how our community and school can work together for the betterment of our students.”According to Dan Lacy, the owner of Lacy Subaru, his dealership’s involvement in the project stems from their commitment to the Subaru Love Promise, which is an organizational belief in being a part of the community, setting an example, building lifelong relationships, and ensuring that the love is felt not just by their customers, but by all because it is the right thing to do. Their donation included many different titles, all recipients of the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize, which recognizes each as an outstanding science publication for young people.

Subaru of America and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have been teaming up together to provide much needed support and “warmth” to cancer patients and their families around the country through Subaru’s Love Promise and Subaru Loves to Care. Last week, Dan Lacy along with his family, traveled up to Albany Medical Center to be a part of the special event. RC Lacy donated a total of 60 blankets with hand written cards for this cause. Thirty of the blankets were given to the Melodies Center, 20 were given to the New York Oncology Hematology within Albany Medical and 10 were delivered to New York Oncology Hematology in Clifton Park. Along with delivering the blankets, the Lacy’s were able to meet some of the people who helped make this campaign possible. Christine Krenzer was the ‘Campaign Specialist’ and main point of contact for this event. She also happens to be a two time survivor of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Not only was Christine’s life altered by cancer, but her daughter’s life was affected as well. Kassidy Krenzer is a two time leukemia survivor. Her battle started when she was just about to enter first grade. Now, years later, she is healthy and about to begin her freshman semester at Utica College. Both of these women are extremely inspiring. As a dealership and family, we were extremely proud to be able to help out and donate to such a great cause.
Did Lacy Subaru go above and beyond, provide exceptional service, or support causes that are important to you? We'd love to hear about it.
